Pat Turner, CEO of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO), & Co-Chair of the Joint Council on Closing the Gap, explains the formation of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap in the video as an act of self-determination:

“…the whole issue of Closing the Gap and coming together as the Coalition of Peaks is an act for self-determination, and we have never done it before in this way…” – Pat Turner

Commitment of Government

Part 3 in our series to explain the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. This part focuses on who the agreement is for, the commitment from Government back to indigenous people and the new way of Government working with community.

What this means for Doomadgee is that Government is committed to working with Doomadgee differently. This is why Gunawuna Jungai was formed to represent all the Family Groups who live in Doomadgee and become the Voice of Doomadgee.

Doomadgee Gets to Choose!
